The Associated Press reported yesterday that a couple of suspected thieves in Onondaga County, New York (which includes Syracuse) were caught with a car load of stolen tools from a local business. They were caught because one of their cell phones dialed 911 accidentally and started broadcasting their conversation to the 911 dispatcher.
The article states that they talked about their plans and that one of them stated that they saw a police cruiser going by which this led to their detainment and arrest. Evidently the 911 dispatcher later heard the arresting officer talking to the suspects after he pulled them over.
